A Message From Mayor Joe Chow on Addison’s New School

I am so pleased to share with all our residents the good news about Dallas Independent School District’s (DISD’s) new school to be built in Addison.  This is an exciting educational opportunity for our community.  We will soon have a world-class elementary school (K-5th grade) right here in Addison!  We are partnering with the Dallas I.S.D. and their architects to design a place of learning that will be exceptional in both design and educational achievement.

We have asked and Dallas I.S.D. has responded to our desires to make this new campus a model for “sustainable” design that incorporates smart environmentally progressive materials, construction procedures, and facility operations where appropriate.  The connection to our expanding trail system will provide a link to enable kids to walk or ride their bikes to school if their parents wish to take advantage of this pedestrian system.

Use a layer of organic mulch around plants to reduce evaporation and save hundreds of gallons of water a year. When you need to add or replace a flower or shrub, choose a low water use plant and save up to 550 gallons of water a year.
