    Addison’s Proposed Water Tower

    Addison is on tap to become the first Texas municipality (and one of the few in the country) to build a self-powered water tower that doubles as a piece of art. Wind turbines on top of the tower will provide enough energy to run the tower as well as the street lights on Arapaho Road. The proposal includes a classroom at the base of the tower where people can learn about wind generation and water distribution.

    George Herbert Walker Bush Elementary School

    Scheduled to open in September 2011, the new George Herbert Walker Bush Elementary School  is being designed by WRA Architects and will incorporate energy efficient building materials as well as geo-thermal technology to heat and cool the facility. The two-story, $22.5 million, U-shaped building will be built around a courtyard that can be used as an outdoor learning center for gardening, climate and solar studies.

    Vitruvian Park

    Designed on an appealing human scale, mindful of the ancient principles of Vitruvius – the renowned Roman architect… and of Leonardo de Vinci’s study of man – the development will put urbanites within a few minutes walk to work, play and home. To be executed in an environmentally responsible and thoughtful way, Vitruvian Park will become a model for sustainable urban development.
