“Mary Kay Ash always said that we’ve got to protect the environment for the next generation so our grandchildren have a place to live,” Crayton Webb, Director, Corporate Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility for Mary Kay, said. “And it’s just the right thing to do. So that’s what we’re out here doing, the right thing.”

Mayor Joe Chow took in the event, along with Neil Hewitt, President of the Addison Arbor Foundation. Representatives of the Park Department helped coordinate the plant spacing and assisted with traffic control.

“Every year, we try to do something special with our employees,” Webb said. “What we think is the most exciting piece of this is the opportunity for our employees to come out on a Saturday morning, have a chance to volunteer, and give back to the community.”

Recently, Addison-based Mary Kay was named a recipient of a 2010 National Arbor Day Award, given by the Arbor Day Foundation. The company earned the Rachel Carson Award in honor of its dedication to teaching young children the importance of nature.
