The Town of Addison has an easy program to help single-family homeowners dispose of Christmas trees.

Once the Christmas tree comes down, the Town of Addison has an easy program to help single-family homeowners dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner. First, make sure all stands, wiring, ornaments, lights and tinsel have been removed from the tree. Then just place it out with your trash. Addison’s crews will pick up the trees and chip them into mulch that will be used in parks and other public areas. Because of the chemical compound in flocking material, flocked trees cannot be picked up for recycling.

This program is not available if you live in a multi-family complex. However, you can contact your property manager, who can request assistance from Town crews if certain requirements are met.

Remember that the Town of Addison regularly mulches tree limbs and other cuttings for use by the Parks Department. But Addison residents can make arrangements to pick up mulch for their own use at no charge. Just contact 972 450-2871 for information on how you can pick up mulch.
